Michaela Potter

What is Wanderlust? For Michaela Potter it is a state of mind...a lifestyle...something that is a necessary part of her life...it's a love of travel. For Michaela, traveling is one of the best ways to truly feel alive. Experiencing other cultures, people, lifestyles and adventures really puts her in touch with what it means to be alive, and to really appreciate the world that she lives in. There is a tendency among people to focus on the differences in one another — especially when it comes to other countries and cultures. In today's society, people also tend to make things more complicated than they need to be. But what she has found while traveling abroad is that people share a lot in common. And these similarities are most often found in the simplest of ways.

Through her photos, Michaela wants to bring to the viewer the beauty that she has found in the world. And whether it's through shapes — like arches, circles, and lines — or themes — like kids, seaside, and trees — she hopes that people will be able to get a taste for why traveling excites her. And hopefully she can bring the destinations to people, even if they can't make the trip themselves.

In addition to grouping her photos into themes, what also makes them unique is that the backgrounds all include entries from Michaela's travel journals.

When not traveling or taking photos, Michaela Potter freelances in video production and graphic design. In a previous life, she did event planning and marketing for Starlight Children's Foundation (www.starlight-newyork.org) — an organization she still supports. She has also helped her brother start Thru-Hike For A Cure (www.thru-hike.org), supporting his efforts to raise money for Hodgkin's Lymphoma research.

Among the destinations she has traveled to are Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Belize, Guatemala, the British Virgin Islands, Great Britain, Europe and most recently the American Southwest and Alaska.
